FLCAN Expands Leadership and Adopts Three-Year Plan
Prioritizes identifying cannabis champions in the legislature
Melbourne, FL – Florida Cannabis Action Network (FLCAN) held their annual meeting on May 10th and expanded its leadership team with cannabis-oriented small business owners, communications experts, and political veterans. FLCAN is supporting the passage of legislation to help cannabis consumers and medical marijuana patients, as well as, identifying cannabis policy champions in the legislature.
“We are excited to recruit new talent to the organization to ensure cannabis consumers and patients are represented in the democratic process,” says FLCAN President Jodi James.
The additions to the leadership team are as follows:
Carla Ashburn, FLCAN Board Member
Carla is the Founder and CEO of MMCARE of Florida, based in Brooksville, Florida, which operates clinics providing recommendations from physicians for medical marijuana patients.
Cynthia Brewer, FLCAN Board Member
Cynthia is the Executive Vice President/Government Relations at Kaycha Labs, a leading cannabis and hemp testing laboratory headquartered in South Florida.
Jennifer Makris, Director of Strategic Outreach
Jennifer is the founder and CEO of Cannabis Cash Consultants, a Florida-based firm specializing in secure cash management solutions for the cannabis industry.
Hector Roos, Director of Strategic Planning
Hector is a real estate sales agent, property manager, and First Amendment advocate. He is the chair of the Libertarian Party of Miami-Dade County and the 2022 Libertarian candidate for Florida governor.
FLCAN is committed to the organization’s legacy of Advocacy, Community Engagement, and Education (ACE) Program. Short-term goals include the completion of a white paper, “The Status of Patient Care in the Florida Medical Marijuana Program, with recommendations for practitioners and lawmakers, a petition to Attorney General Uthmeier seeking the rescheduling of Cannabis, and a waiver of fees for veterans in the state medical program.
The group continues to promote civic engagement through political education and get-out-the-vote efforts.
