The Florida Cannabis Action Network (FLCAN) announced today that the 11th Annual Cannabis at the Capitol will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, bringing patients, veterans, business leaders, and community advocates together as the Florida Legislature begins deliberations on more than 30 cannabis-related bills this session.
This year’s theme — “Come Together” — reflects a renewed call for unity across political, professional, and personal lines to protect patient access and advance science-based cannabis policy in Florida.

New Florida Bills Improve Medical Marijuana Access for Veterans

HB 887 and SB 974 will help Veterans on the Road to Relief.
Melbourne, FL – December 23, 2025. Florida has long recognized the danger of opiates and the need for opiate alternatives, particularly among our veteran population. Representative Susan Valdés and Senator Keith Truenow’s new bill aims to provide opiate-free relief for more Florida veterans. HB 887 and SB 974 reduce the fee for “issuance, replacement, or renewal” of patient cards for veterans.

FLCAN Expands Leadership and Adopts Three-Year Plan

Melbourne, Florida – May 15, 2025 – The Florida Cannabis Action Network (FLCAN), held their annual meeting on May 10th and expanded its leadership team with cannabis-oriented small business owners, communications experts, and political veterans. FLCAN is supporting the passage of legislation to help cannabis consumers and medical marijuana patients, as well as, identifying cannabis policy champions in the legislature.

FLCAN Tackles Federal Rescheduling

Melbourne, Florida – July 25, 2024 – The Florida Cannabis Action Network (FLCAN), a leading advocate for sensible cannabis policies, has completed a study of the existing federal laws and international treaties in preparation of submitting a recommendation for decontrolling the Cannabis plant. The DEA is taking public comment on a proposal to reschedule Cannabis from Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substance Act to Schedule 3. The paper prepared by FLCAN members disputes the Schedule 3 recommendation for the whole plant.

Florida Legislature Builds Cannabis Policy on Soft Science
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tallahassee, Florida – February 14, 2024 – The Florida Cannabis Action Network (FLCAN), a leading advocate for sensible cannabis policies, is proud to unveil its white paper: “Comprehensive Overview of Contemporary Science.” The review examines the mandatory form developed by the Florida Board of Medicine. The form must be signed by a patient at each renewal or they cannot be added into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
February 14, 2024, acting on the findings in the White Paper, members of the organization have filed a Petition for Declaratory Statement with DOH or Return to Rulemaking.
