Cathy Jordan was well-respected as a hairdresser in her Delaware hometown when she found she couldn’t control her hands. The 1986 diagnosis of Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) was a death sentence. Doctors told Cathy to put her house in order; a diagnosis of ALS means 3-5 years to live with a probability you will die choking to death.
Cathy took her fate in her own hands. She was determined to winter in Florida in order to save enough muscle relaxants to die with dignity at a time of her choosing. On a beach near Bradenton, Florida she smoked a strain of cannabis that halted the progress of her disease.
Close to 30 years later, Cathy is an outspoken advocate for the use of cannabis and its life saving properties. Modern science has now proven what she knew all along; Cannabis is an effective treatment for neurological-diseases like ALS, MS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
Currently residing in the Bradenton area, she serves as Past President of Florida Cannabis Action Network and is a seasoned lobbyist having personally met with elected officials in her local district, Tallahassee and Washington, DC, including meeting Governors Jeb Bush and Rick Scott, and leading protests and demonstrations in Florida, Texas and DC. Cathy is arguably one of the most famous medical cannabis users in Florida.
