Carla Ashburn brings logistical experience, strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills to any work she does. BC (before Cannabis) spent over 30 years in Corporate Management giving her a muscle-memory for both team building and event planning. In 2016, Carla recognized the need to bridge the gap between patients and Physicians. Carla founded Medical Marijuana Care of Florida (MMCareFL.com) in 2017, mentoring and assisting Physicians who wished to get started in the Cannabis Industry. MMCare now has two locations, Brookville and Odesa, serving patients in those rural communities. Her passion for helping patients navigate their cannabis journey is what motivates her to continue to learn and educate. “Let us help you on your path to Wellness” is MMCare’s mission.
Carla believes that all patients have the right to have a voice in their health care, and Cannabis should always be a first option, not a last choice. Educating patients on the therapeutic benefits and watching patients’ eyes light up with hope is so very rewarding. Assisting patients in reducing and/or eliminating pharmaceuticals is even more rewarding. All patients and consumers have the right to access this healing plant without government overreach. Veteran care is another important part of Medical Marijuana Care. Ensuring they are cared for and receive the dignity and respect they deserve. All veterans receive discounts and care from the MM Care team. We fight for their rights every legislative session.
Carla quickly found a home with Florida Cannabis Action Network. She shared the same passion for Veterans access, patient and consumer rights, with the same emphasis on education that Carla herself values. Since joining FLCAN Carla has served on the Leadership team, chaired the Committee that developed the “Comprehensive Overview of Contemporary Science” white paper, and took an active lead in several Cannabis at the Capitol experiences.
Carla is more than her Cannabis work. She is happily married to Tod , has parented grown children, and her faith plays an important role in her life. She has held many leadership roles in her church, including: Board of Trustees’ Chair, Natural Church Development Chair, Events Planning Committee, Leading Bible Studies, and 25 years serving the Children’s Ministry.
