Talking about Adult-Use- Impact: Amendment 3 – Recap and video link
On May 28, 2024, Florida CAN hosted IMPACT: AMENDMENT 3 talking about adult-use! This two-part forum was divided into Economics and Business in part 1. The second part focused on Criminal Justice and Patient Access. We’ve posted both videos on our YouTube channel, you can find them on Facebook, or click these links.
Part 2 Criminal Justice and Patient Access
The forum was the brainchild of our Community Outreach Director Julie Curts, She suggested that the people she was meeting had lots of questions about the proposed adult-use amendment. Not everyone she met was sold on voting Yes on Amendment 3. We decided talking about adult use and the amendment was the right way to go.
Florida CAN noted that other groups are doing forums on the initiative including the panel on Saturday morning, June 1, 2024, at the Florida Medical Cannabis Conference and Expo. We made our workshop free and open to our online supporters and members. We never know who might stop by!
In addition to our regular cast of characters, we had some interesting guests. We were honored to have attorney Mike Minardi join us for both segments. Mike has spent his career challenging bad Cannabis laws as he defends people accused of crimes related to this plant. Whether related to an employment dismissal, possession, cultivation, or DUI, Mike is interested in helping dismantle prohibition through the Courts. That is the Third Branch of our Government.
Eric Stevens of Florida for Care joined us for the segment on Patient Access. Eric believes we can add protections for patients when we start implementing Amendment 3 in 2025. We were pleased to have a fair number of patients attend the forum. Carla Ashburn, director of MM Cares of Florida joined the discussion. She works with patients in the Brooksville area. Dr. Gordon is the founder of the Compassionate Cannabis Clinic and serves on our advisory board. Both Carla and Dr. Gordon spend a great deal of their resources educating people on the value of Cannabis.
