Ms. MaryJane Manners
A gracious good day gentle readers. What a wonderful day it is today. I found a new book. As I am embarking on developing some basics for Ms. MaryJane Manners Guide to Cannabis Etiquette, a quick web search finds that Lizzie Post, the great-great-grand-daughter of Emily, published an entire tome on the subject mid-2019. The title is rather cute, Higher Etiquette: A Guide to the World of Cannabis, From Dispensaries to Dinner Parties.
Post’s book combines etiquette and cannabis, two of my favorite subjects. I grew up with both Emily Post’s and Amy Vanderbilt’s books of etiquette and good manners on my reading list at home. I love that this book is published. Lizzie Post is co-president of the Emily Post Institute. Their bookstore has Higher Etiquette on the same shelf as the classic. I may have just solved Christmas shopping.

Etiquette is the set of conventional rules of personal behavior in polite society, usually in the form of an ethical code that delineates the expected and accepted social behaviors that accord with the conventions and norms observed by a society, a social class, or a social group. Wikipedia
In my circle of friends and family the first rule we came up with was: don’t steal other people’s lighters. Of course, one should always bring pot to a pot party, if at all possible. While at the party, at least here in Florida, the law is clear that one should puff but not pass. However, Higher Etiquette believes that sharing is the number one rule; so, I believe many people will continue to follow the cannabis culture of caring and sharing.
