In 2011, with a generous donation from the late Colby Wise, FLCAN leadership went to Tallahassee to represent the needs of Cannabis Consumers before the Florida Legislature. FLCAN believes it is important that lawmakers hear from the people who need Cannabis, the people who use Cannabis, and the people who are waiting on the laws to change so they can use Cannabis. Our experienced team tracks proposed bills, organizes patients, caregivers, and Cannabis professionals to testify at public hearings, and rallies the Cannabis Community to make phone calls, send emails, and make legislative visits.

In 2021, FLCAN partnered with allies like Florida for Care, Florida Cannabis News, Highlife Brands, Medical Marijuana Physicians, and treatment providers to rally the patients to fight bills proposing to CAP the amount of THC in products AND WE WON!
We stopped the bad bills in 2021, but every year we see more of the same. The 2022 session was no help for patients, no help to businesses, and offered no protection for consumers. We lost many champions during the 2022 election, but with every election, we find new allies.
2024 was the year of prohibitionists fed bad bills. You can read more about each bill here.
