Covid 19 Protocols vs Medical Marijuana
In the past year, the world has been consumed with Covid-19 and how to protect everyone.
Some Countries have gone into full lockdown and have mandated masks to be worn. Some states here in the US have done the same.
After a year of Covid-19 precautions, we are now in the midst of a very deadly variant, the Delta variant. Strategies like masks and even being vaccinated aren’t stopping people from contracting the virus or even, sadly, dying from it….although being vaccinated does seem to help mitigate the spread and/or death.
Despite this deadly variant making its way everywhere, it seems…the good old State of Florida has decided to basically thumb our noses at sensible protocols, all in the name of freedom.
Governor DeSantis has banned our schools from having mask mandates. If a school district implements a mandate then they will be financially penalized. Keep in mind that children can and are spreading the deadly virus.
Governor DeSantis has also banned private companies such as the Cruise Ship industry from being able to ask for your vaccine documentation.
So with that being said, I’d like to ask our Governor and the rest of his party…Republicans…to be specific, a few questions.
Namely – Why aren’t we applying the same logic to Cannabis?? So far Covid-19 has far outpaced deaths with comparison to Cannabis deaths. Hundreds of thousands of deaths vs zero just so we are all on the same page.
Now in comparison to Cannabis laws…a legal patient must have and must present their State issued Medical Cannabis card…of course, that’s after you pay the State $75. If you are a caregiver to more than one patient you must get a card for each patient at another expense of $75 per patient. That can be a lot of money, especially if you have more than one patient to assist. Remember, there has never been a death by consumption of cannabis.
Our Governor and some legislators have deemed it “UnAmerican” to ask for vaccine records for a deadly virus, but it’s perfectly okay and legal to INSIST that an MMJ patient purchase a card and present it on demand.
Our Governor and some legislators have deemed it okay to deny science and ignore doctors with regard to this deadly virus; but pulled out all the stops three years in a row attempting to put THC caps in place, based on one Quack’s research. And all indications show the THC caps bill will be back for a fourth year …for a plant that has caused zero deaths.
Our Governor and some lawmakers are threatening to financially punish educators from putting protocols in place to preserve life. These same people have allowed schools to deny children access to legally obtained medicines containing Cannabis during the school day.
Our legislators want to put a cap on THC for the fourth year in a row…yet they are okay with sending our children to schools without any safety measures. And without their medicine.
Then there is Telehealth! The legislature failed to extend telehealth privileges for MMJ patients because apparently, it’s best we see doctors in person. The same doctors they don’t want to listen to with regard to Covid protocols.
Our Governor has also been very willing to buck our federal government on Covid. The same federal government that has deemed Cannabis as having no medical value…but does hold a patent on it ((US6630507), issued to HHS in 2003).
Weird how MMJ patients’ lives seem way more important to our Governor and our legislators when we see them play these games with little to no regard for human life with Covid/Delta.
As an MMJ patient, I’d like to ask our Governor and our legislators to please treat MMJ like they do Covid. At least with MMJ, I know I won’t die.
Our Governor and some legislators have expressed that we should not be allowed to have full access to cannabis because…wait for it…it’s not FDA approved! Yet, the Governor has applauded giving a vaccine that’s not FDA approved to every citizen in the State of Florida over the age of 12 for free.
The hypocrisy is astounding.
If our Governor and legislature were actually for freedom then they would allow at a minimum a full and open legal market for every adult to be able to purchase and consume cannabis. After all, they know it’s much safer than Covid as our own state records can prove.
If our Governor and our legislature were actually for freedom, they would allow the citizens to cultivate Cannabis at home. Home cultivation allows people the freedom to choose what they consume.
If our Governor and our legislature were actually for freedom, they would want capitalism to be alive and well here in Florida. A fair market for Cannabis protects consumers, generates tax revenue, and employs people.
If our Governor and our legislature were actually for freedom, they would legalize Cannabis.
Just think of Cannabis as the anti-Covid.
