Santa Claus is a State of Mind
We are children of a time when Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy were real….or, at least, real stories. These, and other, fictional creatures are from our childhood. A time when the big people have everything and we especially like story time. We have stories of travelers who come with goods from foreign lands. We are told of fanciful times and places where all good children get a gift from a man who comes down the chimney while leaving his flying reindeer on the roof. I think we can all agree that this is a delightful and useful children’s story and not reality. When we tell you legalization is on the horizon, it isn’t a fairytale.
Florida Cannabis Action Network is helping shape history. It is impossible to gaze into a crystal ball and see the future. The best we can do is to show up and participate. We can translate our experiences of the existing market into language that provides understanding of one single issue.
Consider the widow of a man of substance. Her life is with its issues. She may be experiencing grief in any of the infinite ways possible. Cannabis provides a bit of euphoria and socialization with people she likes to hang out with. Where should she get her flowers?
These ladies (the widows and their friends) enjoy lunch. Go figure….Ladies Who Lunch. There is one difference. These women are 420 Friendly, they at least don’t mind being around, having fun, and using Cannabis. Everybody has a rig, a pipe, a joint, some bud, a bong, cookies, hemp seeds, etc. Why can’t they have lunch out and have Cannabis Over Cocktails? They are, after all, responsible and have a designated driver to get home.
Put yourself in the skin of an athlete, say your star football idol. Imagine the beatings, the stress, the intense training and gaming. A full flower extract for topical application might provide the relief to go home and be more playful with the family.
These considerations are trivial when compared to the ailments and conditions that a qualifying patient in Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) program experience daily, by the moment, relentlessly, debilitatingly, and non-stop. Death to some would be a relief and not unwelcome. Yet, when provided a few moment’s respite from the rigors of illness they can rest and relax for the span of a few breaths or days. What bliss and euphoria to be able to relax.
Unlike Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy, cannabis legalisation is real and possible. Access to the whole plant for all its uses is necessary. Those who need it should have access to the whole plant and the rest of us should be able to enjoy it with them.
