President, Florida Cannabis Action Network
Advocacy and patient freedom have never been more critical than they are today. While the federal government finally took the historic step of recognizing the medical value of cannabis, our work here in Florida has continued without pause. FLCAN was founded in 1997 to restore legal access to a plant—and in 2025, that mission has never felt more relevant.
This past year was transformative.
We expanded our leadership team, welcoming Cynthia Brewer, Jennifer Makris, Hector Roos, Benny Blanchard, Alex Johnson, and Steve Thaw —each bringing new expertise in law, finance, communications, policy, and grassroots organizing. Their contributions have already strengthened our operations and broadened our reach across the state.
We also grew our legislative footprint in Tallahassee. Through expanded state legislative outreach, Cannabis Ambassador Weeks, bill drafting, and sponsorship efforts, FLCAN members became a regular presence in the places where decisions are made. We are no longer asking to be heard—we are being consulted.
Our commitment to communication and education reached new heights. Thanks to Cynthia Brewer and our growing media team, Elevated Intel—our live weekly podcast recorded every Friday at 4:20 PM has become a trusted source of cannabis policy news, legal updates, and FLCAN developments. The show reflects our belief that informed advocates are effective advocates.
Throughout 2025, our Ambassadors stepped forward to represent patients, veterans, caregivers, professionals, and small business owners during committee weeks in Tallahassee—meeting lawmakers, offering testimony, and building coalitions. These weeks are no longer symbolic; they are strategic.
Our progress this year proves a simple truth: change happens when citizens organize, show up, and persist.
As we head into 2026, our priorities are clear—protect state programs, expand patient access, ensure affordable medicine, and resist federal inconsistency that threatens small businesses and vulnerable communities. Remember, advocacy and patient freedom have never been more critical than they are today. We are prepared to keep fighting through legislation, education, the courts, and the ballot box.
To our members, donors, Ambassadors, and supporters: thank you for giving your time, your energy, and your faith to Florida Cannabis Action Network. Because of you, our movement is stronger than ever.
With resolve and gratitude,
Jodi James
